And the thing? Well, for the last couple of weeks, I’ve been semi-worried over not seeing a comment here, because I rarely bother to check if there’s more than five new since the last time I was here, and I’ve disabled the annoying e-mail notifications. And now, I realized that I could use the comments RSS thingy, and check that out every once in a while. Not that I suspect there’ll be more than five comments posted between my visits, but one never knows.
I think I’ll do the same a couple of more places; I seem to remember Opera Community’s blogs having such a function…
Oh, and I changed my public alias here. The surname “Biteme Smith” started to sound plebian, so I changed it to “Iscariot Mosiman”, Iscariot being Judas, of course (one of my favourite historical persons, for some reason. In spite of the fact that he may have been a gnostic), while “Mosiman” is a somewhat warped version of my real last name that I’ve used on at least a couple of RPG characters in the past. And you know what? I think it sounds better. I really do.

What’s wrong with gnostics? Other than the obvious.

Well, I’ve always disliked these people or philosophies who/that claim that our material reality is just a bad copy or just plain inferior to some aetheric plane of existence. And that’s kind of what I’ve understood the Gnostics to think. After all, I have rather heavy Marxist “beliefs”, and as you may know, Marxists aren’t usually too fond of these forms of idealism. Besides, I try my best to embrace an agnostic view of the world, as it both allows me to be open-minded and sceptic in relation to these kinds of questions. Open-minded in the fact that I don’t exclude the possibility of them (e.g. the gnostics) being right, sceptic by thinking that even if they are right, we would never (or at least not now) know, seeing as our scientific methods are unable to cope with these kinds of questions, thus making it a matter of belief. And belief… well, I’m also an atheist — one who does not beileve — so I obviously feel that basing one’s way of life on something that can never be proven and then trying to push this belief onto others, is a kind of dubious thing to do. (Which, by the way, is one of the reasons I only consider myself to be partially Marxist. Because that thing about revolution, and forcing the will of some people onto the entire population? I’m not too big on that.)
Of course, this can probably be turned in some way, so that it’ll turn out that my own beliefs in this respect would also be invalid according to my own definition. However, I try not to preach overly much.
And what’s the obvious that’s wrong with gnostics?

Your new nick? Initials “TIM!” The Enchanter!
“And what’s the obvious that’s wrong with gnostics?”
I’m not sure. I had something in mind when I wrote it, but it cannot have been THAT obvious, because it escapes me now.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail?
“I’m not sure. I had something in mind when I wrote it, but it cannot have been THAT obvious, because it escapes me now.”
I get that too, at times. Annoying, ain’t it?

I dont know, but as far as I have seen, you have two regular readers who comments as well. So it should not be too much commenting (is that a word?) for you not to handle. Is there any possibility you could have a system like at nettserier.no? So you could see all comments?
And I wanted to write something more than this, but I cant remember on what. IT IS ANNOYING!

Yeah, I know, but I figured better safe than sorry. And thanks a bunch for rubbing my face in the absence of readers. My self-esteem had actually arisen above “abysmal” today, so it was nice of you to beat it back down.

I have absolutely no idea about what you mean.

Evil without meaning so. Must be a good sign if I wants to become evil once.
What I meant, is this: On nettserier, you can go to a comic, clikc a button which says “les alle kommentarer” or something like that, and then you get all the comments on one (or perhaps more) pages, posted on that comic.

He means a “show all comments”-page.
And, yes, the Grail. One that looks nice. But not too expensive.

A “show all comments” page? Like, a page where every comment to every post on the entire blog are displayed? Wouldn’t it be fucking ridiculous to display those outside of their context?
Anyway, no such function here.
“And, yes, the Grail. One that looks nice. But not too expensive.”
I could get you a wooden Grail? It has a most competetive price, you know.

(Not that I don’t see how such a page could be practical in a few, rare occasions…)
22. October 2006 @ 22:22 ( Permalink )
Well, you don’t need to show the comments themselves, just a list of links to them. Like the one to the right, only showing all, not just the latest ones.
The wooden Grail is the only real one, didn’t you learn ANYTHING from Harrison Ford?

“Well, you don’t need to show the comments themselves, just a list of links to them. Like the one to the right, only showing all, not just the latest ones.”
In that case, that’s basically what the “Kommentarer RSS” function does. It’s quite handy, even though its only current benefit lies in releiving me of some worries.

Well, duh. Do I look like some kind of pop culture n00b, Loki?

It’d relieve me from a lot of them, too, you answer comments way too rarely for my liking (;D) and when you do, I often start wondering if you may have replied to more than the five listed to the right. In short: how do you use this RSS-thing?
23. October 2006 @ 02:05 ( Permalink )
You click it, and then replies in an affirmative way when your browser (e.g. Opera) asks you if you want to subscribe to this RSS-thing. Or at least, that’s pretty much how I remember it…
Anyway, this’ll create a new menu on the bar in the top of the window (the one with “File”, “View”, and those things), saying, in my case, “Infokanalar” (yes, I use the Neonorwegian (yay!) language skin). And on this menu, “Kommentarer til Thus Spoketh Terje” can be found.
Enlightening?

Uh-huh. Thanks.
23. October 2006 @ 15:49 ( Permalink )
Thanks to you, yes.
And by the way, I hva been regretting for many hours now, on reminding you of readers. Sorry. Really. Does it make it any better to know I have been worried about you? Thought you have been crying in the pillow?
23. October 2006 @ 17:05 ( Permalink )
That’s the kind of sense that’s not.
23. October 2006 @ 17:18 ( Permalink )
Hahaha, if I made you worry, it just goes to prove that I’m the evil one.
After all, I don’t care who or how many reads this nonsense, so long as there’s at least some feedback. But if something I said made you feel guilty — well, let’s just say that makes my self-esteem increase, so even if I’d actually cared about your comment, we’d be even now.
EDIT: And that’s the kind of sense that is.

It is indeed.

Now I am confused, but I can’t say that, since you will grow by that.
