Last week, I visited some three or four bookshops here in Trondheim in search of R. Scott Bakker’s “Prince of Nothing” novels. The only thing I found, was a trade paperback copy of The Thousandfold Thought, volume three in the series. And I’m not that keen on trade paperbacks, really. They have a great format for reading, although they can get kinda heavy, but they’re hell to store. Especially when the rest of one’s books are mostly “normal” paperback-sized.
I don’t usually like online shopping. It feels so impersonal, so insecure, so like a second-rate option. But the net shops’ inventory… oh gods, the benefits of grand scale! In the end, I ended up ordering the following:
The darkness that comes before (Prince of Nothing vol. 1)
The warrior prophet (Prince of Nothing vol.2)
The thousandfold thought (PoN vol. 3)
Scrubs, season 2
Rome, season 1
I sense that I will have problems keeping up with my schoolwork this autumn and winter…

I haven’t read those books, sadly, but the two other objects I can recommend with the outmost sincerity. Pure brilliance. Just sad that the Rome-series ended so quickly and fast-forwarded through so much history in just one season, and that the network forced them to discard much of the political intrigue for more fight-scenes and sex. But it’s still damned good.
As for Scrubs… well… it’s SCRUBS.

Damn.
Discarding substance for purely ornamental elements is one of the few offenses where I am in favour of capital punishment.
