Yesterday, I finally got my hands on The White Stripes’ cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”. And it’s so fucking amazing; I’m gonna listen to it and try to sing along until my throat starts bleeding.

I mean, seriously, I’ve spent the last ten minutes doing the pogos around in my room, Sid Vicious style, while headbanging and screaming pharses like, “He talks about you in his sleep, Theres nothing I can do to keep, From crying when he calls your name, jolene” and “You could have your choice of men, But I could never love again, Hes the only one for me, jolene”.
Oh Gods, I’m addicted.

Wee, here we go again:
Jolene, jolene, jolene, joleeeeeeeneeeee…
(Funny thing, I’ve been somewhat embarassed when I, in the past, have sung enthusiastically along to such songs as Portishead’s “Glory Box” ( “Give me a reason to beeeee / A woooooomaaaaaan, etc.” ), but even among the worst parts of “Jolene”, all I feel is joy. Godsdammit, this is an awesome cover!)

– And I can’t help myself smiling reading your comments — I makes me miss the times when I could turn on my favorite record loud and sing without caring that it would scare the neighbours..

When it feels like you are going to throw up, you are about to loose your voice. When so happens, sing louder, and your friends and family will think someone have ripped the tounge out of your mouth.

You know, I was sure you posted to remind me not to link to any sites that offers illegal material or something.
But you comment was so much nicer; I’m really not looking forward to the time when I have to worry about not disturbing the people around me. I’m almost convinced that I’ll try to get a job in some small town in northern Hedmark, where I can afford a house far away from people, where I can do whatever I want to. That’d be so sweet…

Yeah.
I sang so loud today, I had to spit phlegm for three hours or so.

Haha. My mouse (is it called so in English as well?) suddenly marked one word in the last comment. “Job”. First, I thought it was hillarious, seeing as I don’t really see you as the working person. Then I realized it was Loki who escaped from work.
Then I thougt I should see it as a sign of me going to dome some job. But that would be cruel. So I’m still sitting, laughing of the oxymoron (even though I am not sure it is right)

I actually think it’s better to live in Oslo in an apartment if you don’t want people to care about singing. In a small town/ place in Hedmark you’ll get: “Oh, there’s that newcomer, oh, I heard him sing outside his house when I was out yesterday, and oh, that terrible music, yes, they call that screaming music these days, for my daily walk, yes, you know the doctor said, anyway (…)” You get the picture
And don’t link to illegal stuff, Terje
