I was just torn out of the belief that this episode’s name was “Cavalery”, when it’s really “Calvary” (I’m guessing it’s the first of the “quick definitions” that’s used here). (Speaking of which, I just found a website that looks to be quite interesting: The Online Etymology Dictionary.) Which is much more fitting, considering what actually happens here.
Most of the episode is much like “Soulless” — Angelus playing mindgames with the Angelettes, and them playing it right into his hands by walking right into every trap he sets, and by swallowing every hook he throws their way. The result? Snipe, snipe, snipe, snipe.
Other parts of the episode is naturally quite different from “Soulless”. “Naturally” because if it’d been all alike, what’d be the point? Two similar episodes in a row? Not very constructive. The main area on which they differ is of course “Cordelia”’s “vision” (whoa! a quotationmarkfest!
) and its consequences. Which is where I suppose the whole “calvary” thing comes into the picture.
Awesome cliffhanger ending, though. Poor Lilah…
