Last Thursday, my sister and I watched one of the first Angel season 2 episodes where Lorne* and his abilities are used. And my sister asks me a question, which I’m frankly disappointed in myself for not having asked myself before: “If you were to sing for Lorne,” she asks, “what would you sing? Give me three options!”
So, as per request, the three songs I would sing to a demon who could read my fortune from my aura when I sang:
1. Lou Reed — Perfect Day. The version from the “Trainspotting” soundtrack. A beautiful song, and an ironic one. Gotta love that.
2. Radiohead — Creep. Not only do I know this one nearly by heart (it’s quite simple, really), I also like it very much. I can also relate to its theme, which I suppose is feelings of inferiority and alienation.
(Those were the easy, obvious ones. From here on, it becomes much harder. I do, however, discard Nirvana’s “Dumb”, Björn Afzelius’ “Kungens Mann” and Beck’s “Loser”, all of which are too simliar to the first two, in one way or another. I’ve decided to have a happier song as my third option, but… I don’t really know any happy songs. So I go for a fast one instead: )
3. Nofx — Murder the government. 34 seconds of angry anarchist punk. I even know the lyrics.
So, what about you? What’d you sing for Lorne?
*In case someone isn’t entirely clear on what, specifically, it is Lorne does: “[His] anagogic abilities allow him to sense and read people’s auras, and their futures. He uses this power to set them on their path in life. He can also read their thoughts and sense their emotions when he does this. His powers evolved in a way that he is only capable of doing this when people sing or are in extreme emotional distress.”

Let’s see.
I am still not quite sure what this Lorne does.
So, basicly, I will sing him one song, and from that, he will read my fortune, or something? And what is it he judges by then? How the song is, what the text is like, how the melody is, how one performs it?
Sounds interesting, though.
And my answer will come if/when I get some clearifaction.

He reads your aura when you’re singing. What the song is, has no real importance; I just thought it was an interesting question. Besides, judging from the show, most people chose a song with some kind of special meaning for them…

Oh, so I could sing everything from Bæ bæ lille lam to some Dimmu Borgir? (Not that I know any texts of the last ones, or am able to growl, but anyways…)
But in these times, it would probably be Hells Bells, AC/DC, since that is one of the coolest songs I know i know the lyrics for. Not for that, I know half of the songs i hear on the radio and so on as well, but I am not sure if I would like to present my self with Lisa Ekdal or anything. (Not that it is anything wrong about her, but you get my point.)

Va vet inte jag
Va vet inte du
Jag vet intet i dag
Jag vet intet i morn
Yeah, Lisa Ekdahl is cool. As for “Hells Bells”, that’s one of my favourite AC/DC songs. It’s not like “Highway to hell”, which actually brings tears to my eyes (what with Bon Scott and everything), but it has this dark, eerie feel to it, which I just love. Man, you just helped me come up with another track to burn on “The Sounds of Febuary”!
Which’ll have a kind of a subjective Buffy theme to it, by the way. Because, you know, fanboy.

Hmm?
I thought it was like this:
Vem vet…
Vem vet…
….
….
But anyways… Really? Highway to Hell? Sure, not a bad choise for a favorite, but what can it do against such as Back in Black and Hells Bells? (Obviously bring the tears in your eyes)
