(Also, the next strip gave me a whole new respect for Elan. Maybe he did get an Intelligence point when he last leveled up?)

I really love the flashback-sequence that follows the OotS-strip. And the xkcd-thing was just wonderful…

New respect? I went “great, now he’s not just boring, but out of character, too.”

He’s not out of character. After all, he never have had anything at stake (beside his life) before, so he didn’t NEED to do anything seriously (Roy had been there to take care of him). But now he must save something, and not just any something, but his Haley, and then he acts, well, almost grown-up.

Yes. Okay. So not out of character, because that portion of the character hadn’t been defined yet, and it could be explained away, sure.
Still boring. :\
My main beef with OotS, that. Boring characters. At this point, the only characters I still marginally like are the dwarf, the halfling, the elf, Xykon, his second-in-command-goblin, and the Linear Guild. All the rest have dwindled into meh-dom.
