In several episodes this season we’ve seen a mail guy in the offices of WnH, wearing a wrestler’s mask and walking hunched over. This is the episode in which his story is told, as an Aztec warrior demon rises in LA.
Basically, this episode is all about Angel and the Angelettes, only it’s told in the form of a parallell. Hence the title, “The Cautionary Tale Of…” — it is supposed to be a warning for Angel about what might happen if he surrenders to WnH, and all that stuff. And as such, this episode falls neatly into line with the rest of the season’s main plot, dealing with hope, compromise, good, evil, and so on.
Bah, I’m too uninspired to write anything at the moment. Let’s just say that this isn’t the best episode in the season, in spite of some good moments. (Wes to Spike during a car ride: “How come you’re riding in the front seat, anyway?” Spike: “I called shotgut, mate.” Wes: “Oh. I thought we were doing a weapons check.” )

I can’t stand this episode, despite a few, as you say, good moments. The sheer amont of cheese is too much. Worst episode of the series, in my eyes - but it’s intentionally so, ’cause it’s INTENDED to be cheesy, which makes it difficult to hate it. It’s not bad, it’s just not for me.
