So. Five days left till the term paper in “Social scientific method” is due. And I was supposed to have started working on it today. But what happened?

Well, I sat down to begin reading some empirics about gender and wage levels and stuff. I think I read perhaps a page or two, but unfortunately I was facing the wrong way. I.e., towards a cabinet I haven’t cleaned since I moved in here two and an half year ago. So the thought came to me, and I asked myself why I didn’t take a look at that cabinet? After all, it was so full of various objects that I could hardly open it without ending up buried under an avalanch of wires, files, cups, plastic containers, and suchlike.

BUT! When I was almost halfway through this task, another thought came to me: Wouldn’t it be much better if my stereo was to relocate to the other end of the room? So I set out to move it, a project involving much dusting, vacuuming, moving of DVDs, comics, books, and various other things.

That operation took me the better part of two hours, but I finally finished it, and went back to cleaning the cabinet. In which I naturally found my boot polish, a discovery that prompted me to polish my boots, as I hadn’t done that in a year or so.

All in all, four hours passed between the point where I started today’s cleaning efforts and the point when I was done. And now I’m exhausted, so I’m gonna go watch “The Return of teh Jedi”. I might be back later to review it and “The Empire Strikes Back” later.
