First of all, I have to admit that I feel ashamed. This has the simple reason that I haven’t cried like this since the second time I watched Tara’s death, in spite of all the great emotional episodes I’ve watched since. But naturally, I have an excuse, and that is that barring perhaps NFA, there’s hardly anything bigger than this. Because, you know, everyone loves Fred, right?

That being said, I don’t think there’s one thing about this episode I didn’t like. The intro is superb, the Gunn-Wes scene is great, the whole astronauts vs. cavemen thing is hilarious, and I could go on like this for a long time but I’d only end up running out of superlatives. A couple of scenes have to be mentioned, though, particularly Lorne’s speech to Eve. Made me cry again when I watched it on the commentaries (which were very quiet, by the way; seemed like neither Whedon, Acker or Denisof were too keen on speaking during these heart-wrenching episodes), and Lorne’s Fred quote — “Winifred Burkle once told me, after a sinful amount of Chinese food and in lieu of absolutely nothing, ‘I think a lot of people would choose to be green, your shade, if they had the choice’” — is gonna stay with me forever, just like Illyria’s later “I can no longer hear the green.”

An awesome episode filled with awesome moments and scenes, this one has got to be at least top 5.
