Geez, this is an awesome continuity episode!
Not satisfied with just locking Sahjahn (who’s always cool by the way) in an urn, the Creators had to bring closure to his part of the story, as well as do the same for Connor. After all, they can’t have the poor boy out there all by himself, brainwashed as much as he was after his stay in Quor-Toth with Holtz (possibly even more so), now could they? Wouldn’t be in tune with their “better to be in danger but informed than safe and ignorant” morals from the Cordy episodes of early season 4, either. This last pretty much applies to all the characters, but most of all to Connor, I suppose, since he’s without any knowledge at all about the stuff that goes bump in the night.
In relation to this we also get a fun little discussion between Illyria and Wes, where they discuss what humans are, what our personalities consists of. Without being able to brag about knowing too much of the subject, I think I subscribe to what I understood to be Illyria’s view; that we are the sum of our memories. I have some problems with what she claimed to be the consequences of this, but my notoriously bad memory keeps me from giving a proper argument here; I’d just be arguing with straw men, and that’s just dumb.
Anyway, a great episode, with a cool Gunn moment as well, when he nonchalantly rejects Hamilton’s offer even before he has heard what it actually is. Very noble of him and stuff.

And also? This is the episode which brings Wes what he really didn’t need - more stuff to be in pain about, as his betrayal in season 3 returns with the memory of Connor.
And yeah, I love this episode simply for existing, it’s such an awesome wrap-up and like so many other things in season 5, they make a wonderful job out of going back in the series and picking up loose ends and/or playing on themes they’ve not touched in a while. If they’d just brought back Gwen and Kate too and tied up their threads as well, there’s be just about no loose ends on the entire show!
