Noooooooooooo!
The rest was not much more than okay, though. I’ve never really been much of a fan of action in comics, and this issue, being what it was, suffered from this, in my eyes. And the exposition of Twilight… maybe if I read it a time or two more, but as of now? Meh.
The rescue of Willow was slightly better, especially the scene where Will used Buffy, or whatever it was that happened. But still, much potential from the two villans there. Could have been (and, I suppose, will be) used more efficiently.
It’s a hard medium, though. Just 26 pages and all.

I thought it was really good, actually, especially on the second read. Not great like the third one, but really good. It’s ’cause it’s a finale, the last quarter of an episode is rarely where the brilliance lie, due to its nature it needs a lot of resolving of plot points and a big amount of action-scenes, while the middle-parts can play on and exploit whatever’s going on with interesting dialogue and twists the finale is by its nature expected to wrap things up, which makes it less interesting to me, somehow. Considering that, and I can’t not, I thought it was really good.
And nooooooooooooooes for Ethan from me, too, though if it had been just about any other character I’d have loved how they pulled that off. I hope he’ll stay important to the season somehow, though, which isn’t too far-fetched a hope considering, I guess.

I’ve discovered the same thing about the show: Even if an episode has a poor villain/plot, there’s always some bits of dialogue (like you said on your blog, the Whedonverse’s dialogue is by default beyond just about anything), some sarcasm, and character stuff, which makes the episode worth watching. My problem in this respect is that when skimming an episode list in search of something to watch, what I remember of the episodes mainly have to do with the plot. This entails that I discard a lot of episodes which, when I watch them later, for some reason or other, prove to be quite entertaining.
Anyhoo, haven’t gotten around to rereading it yet — I haven’t really had the time to do anything the last couple of weeks; I’ve either been working or helping my parents in the garden or hiking in the mountains, or somesuch — but like I said, I suspect it’ll grow on me. I was perhaps a bit too rushed when I first read it, what with all the adrenaline, dopamine, endorphins and all…
