Oh, patriarchal social structure!
Oh, male chauvinists of the past!
I praise thee!
While thy general wisdom might leave something to be desired, and while I dislike thee quite strongly, thee have done me — and in fact the whole nation — a great service!
And while thy rancid ignorance and silly prejudices have also done us all great harm, I will forever be thankful for this single mercy:
That you kept your clammy stranglehold on the Norwegian parliament long enough to keep the Constitution from being changed.
Thanks to said ignorance and prejudices, you managed to keep cognatic primogeniture for the royal throne at bay until 1990, and then you had the Constitution’s backing when you refused to make the cognatic primogeniture change retroactive.
And for this, I will be you eternally grateful.

I mean, COME ON!
There was a time we’d have her discreetly assassinated for a disgrace such as this!
Or at least we’d have offed her husband and maybe a few of her friends, sent her children into fosterage, and married her off to the Archduke of Omsk…
Sigh. See how upset this has made me?

Oh, don’t be mean to her angel-hearing highness, you have to give her points for digging up ASTARTE, of all quaint divinities. I mean, even mythology-freak (seriously, he makes me look like I’m just slightly interested) Neil Gaiman didn’t bother with making her anything fancier than a pole-dancer at a strip-club, if I remember my Sandman correctly.
She could at least have gone with a PROPER heathen goddess alternative, like Venus or even Ishtar. I mean, the kind that people have HEARD of. (”I’m referring here to people”, as Kaylee would say, i.e. there are exceptions, such as people who know their Bible by heart, and mythologyfanatics like, say, me.) They’re all connected to the same gorram star anyhow. But nooo. She goes the fancy, exlusive little road, doesn’t she.
Another thing - our royal family must be the last one in Europe to cling to the direct-link-to-God-concept, which is a nice little bonus in all of this.

Well, indirect, anyway, I guess the “there’s angels in all religions”-type of statement might be a rather certain indication she has no first hand chats with Him.

I’ll give her some credit for digging up Astarte, yeah. But I’ll keep making fun of her, regardless.
(If she’d like, she can make fun of my narrowmindedness and my (from her point of view) reductionist materialism.)

Hey, she’s a princess of the blood, she can make fun of _anything_ she damn well pleases ‘cept maybe the few in her family who outrank her, she doesn’t need _my_ permission. That’s one of the beauties of having a priviliged family on top, they’re PRIVILIGED. They get to do stuff we’d usually sue people to heck for.
