From Wikipedia’s kenning article:
Bárum Ullr, of alla
ímunlauks, á hauka
fjöllum Fyrisvalla
fræ Hákonar ævi;
nú hefr fólkstríðir Fróða
fáglýjaðra þýja
meldr í móður holdi
mellu dolgs of folginn
Simply based on meaning, i.e. without kennings, the passage runs: “Accursed King Harald! We carried gold in our arms during all of Hakon’s life; now the enemy of the people has hidden gold in the earth.”
Compare this to the actual prose translation: “Ullr, the onion of war! We carried the seeds of the Fyrisvellir on the mountains of the hawks during all of Hakon’s life; now the enemy of the people has hidden the flour of Fróði’s hapless slaves in the flesh of the mother of the enemy of the giantesses.”

^^ Funny stuff
Somethings that’s not so funny is to be found at the “Generelt” section of the Pattern. You would regret it if you didn’t read it immediately.

You know, just yesterday, I thought, “Damn it, Terje, you need to get your slow, stupid ass over to The Pattern again, you dumb fencepost,” but then I remembered that I had promised my flatmate Kalle I would play Exalted with him that evening.
Then, just ten minutes ago, I thought, “Hmmm, perhaps I could spend the day on my forums, catching up?”, before it struck me that I have a dinner appointment with my sister, my flatmates and a bunch of their friends tonight, and that I have a history paper that’s due in about a week that I haven’t even started on, and I’d really like to finish Grendel today, too.
Repeat variations over this pattern for close to two months, and you have the reason why I haven’t come to see you…
Ah, but frack it. I’m coming. Now, as a matter of fact. What you just said sounded somewhat serious.

Well, it’s good to have you back. I can’t say that we didn’t miss you

Right back at you; I’ve missed you too. It’s fun having someone I can browbeat in discussions, again; my flatmates are way too intelligent for my liking.

And it’s nice to get browbeat (I reckon that is the past tense of that verb) by people smarter than me. It doesn’t happen in RL, so you, Loki, and Ole is everything that keeps me *somewhat* grounded
