… was last weekend, when I and one of my flatmates (who’s a linguistics student) spent a quarter of an hour having fun with the IPA map in general, and the voiced bilabial trill in particular.
But hey, the voiced bilabial trill really is one of the funniest phonems in the world. Alright, the “schwa” and the unvoiced glottal plosive are pretty fun, too, but no one can seriously believe them to be cooler than the voiced bilabial trill.

I think I realized that about myself when I was a tiny little child reading a Mickey Mouse-story about a viscount and spending the afternoon looking up different forms of titles of nobility in encyclopedias and taking notes on which ranked how to which… Or in a million other situations like that.

Oooh, the halved viscount story? That’s a great one. Did you know it is based on a play by the brilliant Italian author Italo (sic) Calvino? His novel “The Climbing Baron” is highly recommended.
Also, do not take the title of this post literal; I’ve realized how much of a nerd/geek/dork I am on innumerous previous occasions, so this is just rhetoric.

I assumed it was based on a play or novel, but did not know which. Thanks! (And yes, that was the one)
