Spoilers inside.
Veronica has just revealed the two guys guilty of the campus rapes, and been saved from rape herself, by the hair.
Cut to a diner. Two cops are sitting at a window table, sipping coffee, munching donuts. Their squad car is parked outside.
Things are like Waiting for Godot for about ten or fifteen seconds, and I’m starting to wonder what the Hell this is.
Then, a familiar figure emerges from the right. I barely recognise it as Logan Echolls — he’s moving with what can only be described as a determined pace — before he whips up a baseball bat, and starts smashing up the cops’ car. They spring to their feet.
The screen goes black for a few seconds.
When the black is gone, there has been a shift of scenes. We’re in a police station holding cell, and the two rapists are lying on the usual crappy prison beds, cradling their various limbs in pain. They were, after all, arrested by Keith Mars.
The cell door opens, and a new prisoner is lead in. We can only see the bottom part of his body: His feet set, and he opens and closes his fists a few times.
Change of angle. It’s Logan Echolls. And there is murder in his eyes.
Now, is this among the best thirty seconds of TV ever, or are everyone but me criminally insane? ![]()

Maybe not the best, but they’re high up there. Sadly the rest of the season isn’t as good.

Meh. I’m enjoying it like Hell, and while it might not be as good as the first two seasons, is still pretty damned good. Not the level of BSG, West Wing, Deadwood, or any of that more or less realistic crap, but who needs realism, eh?

I love how a show named “Battlestar Galactica” gets on your list of “realistic” things. (BSG ROCKS dude! :D)

Well, I’m thinking more of the themes and the portrayal of things than of the motifs, when I say “realistic”. So yeah, I count it as realistic. Especially seeing as “realism” is seen as a bit of a silly term to take literally when it comes to art.

What about VM is so much more unrealistic than BSG, by the way?

Well, there is the small matter of how all this crap keeps happening to this one girl. Of course, she seeks trouble out, but it’s still a bit too much for me to find it very realistic. (Although, in a sense, it is that, too.) The BSG people, on the other hand have a real, bona fide reason to get all these problems sent their way, as they’re the “only” surviving people in the galaxy, and those who killed off the rest want to get them, too.

Nah, I think it’s just you and me having lead blessed lives so far. I think there are people out there who have to take far more crap in their lives than even Veronica Mars.
Of course, it’s easier for her, being fictional and oh-so-very-damn smarter than YOU.

True enough, on all counts.
