The comics-movie dynamics doesn’t sound like a good idea; while it might seem nice from a fan POV, it doesn’t make sense from a business POV. But then again, business is rubbish, and Buffy/Whedon has such a huge fan base, they can probably earn back what they invested from DVD sales just to the most dedicated fans…

And Ethan’s not coming back, unless his corpse is raised as a zombie. Non-mystical death, remember?

Hoping for post-Buffy, because then they won’t have to drown Head in make-up, and Joss can make more interesting dynamics between the comic and the movie. But as long as it gets made, I’m happy.

Which one, if any, are you hoping for?

I’ll obviously be grateful for just about anything they can toss us, but pre-Buffy would probably interrupt the Slayerverse continuity the least, and it would also allow us some more of that Ethan Rayne goodness. I’d love to see a storyline or three where he and Giles becomes unlikely allies, or at least arch nemesises with a cease fire for the duration of a few weeks. Granted, it’d be awfully much like the Angel-Spike things we’ve seen in the past, but hey.

And this would be a bit hard to do post-Buffy, you know with Ethan being dead and stuff…

Nobody knows where Ripper will be in the continuity, Joss has been (probably intentionally) very vague. There’s three obvious possibilities - it’s a prequel, taking place before he meets Buffy, it’s during his time in England in season 6/7, or it’s post season 7, most likely also taking place after the season 8 appearances so far. And by the time Ripper gets made, if it ever will, a ton more comics will be out, so I’m guessing they’ll set it up. After all, Joss’ original incentive to make the comics was to tie it in with a Spike-Illyria-movie. Maybe he’ll tie it in with the Ripper-movie instead.

Yes. ‘Cause Xander should be screwed over well and good and often, ’cause Xander’s the most heart-wrenchingly awesome when he’s in pain. Right? ;P

Btw, I see that a lot of people hope that they can take the ending of “No Future For You” as a hint that Faith will be in the “Ripper”-movie… I have my doubts, though.
