For the past two or three years, I’ve been considering to make a thread at one of the forums I hang at, a thread called “What I learned today”. In case some of you think that’s a cool acronym or something, let me assure you it’s not. I’d simply be a thread where people could tell other people something they learned today, either to “educate” other posters, or to creep them out, or, as could often be the case, make them laugh at the ignorance of others.
But it didn’t get any farther than to the “oooh, that’d be cool!” stage, so I’ve decided to take it here instead. It’ll work kinda like my Quote of the “Day” thing, only with, you know, things I’ve learned.
Get ready to be flabbergasted by my awesome ignorance and stupidity!
(Also, if anyone else feels like contributing, feel free to throw in a comment.)

Niftyness. Wish I could make a tag like that and get away with it.

Why can’t you?
“Also, “thingy?! Do you mean… poo-poos?!” “Nonono, not poo-poos! THINGY!””
I’m afraid I don’t get the reference…
(Yeah, not understanding semi-popcultural references actually makes me cry. It’s sad, and it’s pathetic, and I know it.)

I haven’t learned a lot these past two days (been in vacation mode), but a couple of days ago I relearned the basics of Why You Shouldn’t Kick Walls. I’ve been a limping reminder of that wisdom ever since.
(I was playing football and get a bit overexcited, like I often do, at which point I tried to get the ball away by kicking the ball against the wall, but suddenly the ball wasn’t there anymore and all that was left was Excruciating Pain.)

“Why can’t you?”
‘Cause I’d be lucky to learn something every week, far less every day. Closest I’ve gotten to learning something today, for instance, is that “Wolverine” starts filming in three weeks… It’s sad.
The reference was to a Monty Python-sketch I recently watched, on the “Spanish Inquisition”-episode (which, despite it’s brilliant running gag, really isn’t among their strongest, I have to say). Second series, I believe, but I might be wrong about that.

“Excruciating Pain”
Ouch. I sympathize.
“‘Cause I’d be lucky to learn something every week, far less every day. Closest I’ve gotten to learning something today, for instance, is that “Wolverine” starts filming in three weeks… It’s sad.”
Well, I’ve been doing menial labour all day today. so I haven’t learned anything, either. Excepting of course that all the cool courses at NTNU this spring have lectures that collide with my mandatory courses (it’s like they’re out to get me, that’s how consistent it is), and that’s even sadder…

Ah, I get it now! Finally, I can stop crying. (Man, I don’t know how much salt and water I have consumed in the last day to replenish my tear-reservoirs.)
Also, I believe it is first season, and no, despite the running gag (ah, I am reminded, a little, of 1/0 — that’s always nice) it’s a fairly mediocre episode. The bad thing about Python, that; they’re always a bit of hit-and-miss kind of show…

Yup. I’ve been referencing the Spanish Inquisition-joke a good number of times, so I brought that particular episode to show Sarah, and instantly regretted it when we started watching and I realised just how much of it, well, sucked. Hardly a good teaser to make her want to watch more MP.
The courtroom cherades in the end are quite hilarious, though.

The ones with Cardinal Richelieu?

Oh, no, that one is even better. This is the one with the mimes. “The defendant has been found not guilcup of his crimes”.

Checked, by the way, second series indeed.
