Wow. This was one hell of an episode! Creepy and scary enough for an entire season, plot development, and the character moment of the century. Or one of them, anyway. Or two, actually; the first one belonging to Spike, and the second, and hugest, to Buffy.
Parallels to “Not Fade Away” are obvious, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the Scoobies — who despite their strengths are somewhat inferior to the Angelettes (if there’s a better term, give it to me! I implore thee!) at the end of AS5 — will deal with a hell of a lot tougher foe than the one partially taken out by Angel’s crew.
Just one last remark: Hasn’t it been established earlier on Angel, that vampires don’t breathe? If so, how come Spike looked as if he was drowning when the Übervamp held his head under water? ![]()

Please, remind me?

What, and you expect me to remember?!
Very well, let’s have a go then, shall we? To begin with, Buffy’s moment is obviously her little speech to the Scoobies and the Potentials. You know, the one with all that “we’re at war”, “we’re an army” stuff. As for Spike’s… I’m not very sure about this, but I think it might be this exchange between him and The First, in Drusilla’s guise:
“Do you know why you’re alive?”
“Never figured you for existential thought, love. I mean, you hated Paris.”
