"I’m sorry, but I’m choosing to totally disregard this review, seeing as you state yourself that you’re not a fan of the medium and that you didn’t (in my eyes) get through a representative part of the book."

Please, be my guest; even I don't care about what I said here. At least not when it comes to relevance for all of Leiber's Fafhrd & Mouser works; after all, like you say (and as I said in the review, too), 170 pages out of a couple of thousand ain't really any basis for anything.

Except to say that I didn't necessarily think much of Swords & Deviltry as a stand-alone work, something it's not meant to be anyway.

As you point out, Leiber is supposed to be one of the most influential Fantasy authors ever, comparable only to people like Howard, Lovecraft and Tolkien, so there's bound to be more about him than met the eye in this volume. In other words, I, too, am going to check him out a bit more thoroughly at a later time.

I'm sorry, but I'm choosing to totally disregard this review, seeing as you state yourself that you're not a fan of the medium and that you didn't (in my eyes) get through a representative part of the book. Maybe you're right, though, but Leiber is a big influence on writers like Erikson and Lynch, so kinda *have* to give him a fair shot.

Thanks for the review anyway, Terje. At least I'm more likely to give it a try now than before :)
