Phew, my heart is still in my throat after this episode. Perhaps not among the best ones — there was way too much action emphasis for that — but definitely a good episode, and one that progressed the plot and did it job, just like a cogwheel is supposed to. To some extent it also almost convinced me that Giles is actually Giles, and not just a First Spectre of him. But I’ve come to no conclusion on that issue yet. However, I’d sure like to know, if this is truly Giles, how he escaped that little pickle he found himself in in the end of episode 8.

Anyway, it was nice to finally see the dusting of the Übervamp. That one was a scary mutha, sure, and a strong one too, but it didn’t help progress the plot to any degree that I can see. It seemed like a mindles drone, and gave me the impression that if this was the demon vampires descend from, then it must be obvious that the vampires got their cunning from their human heritage. Because this thing seemed to have the cognitive abilities of a golden retriever…
