Yay, Giles’s back, and he’s Giles!
Yet another splendid episode, with three relatively separate plots, all of which are satisfactorily concluded. Almost, anyway. The Buffy-Spike subplot was creepy (what with all the Initiative bunker and all), and although it ended in something resembling a cliffhanger, it felt good, especially as it seemed as if the chip problem would be solved quickly. The Giles-related subplot was also good; it made the hairs on my arms stand up for a while, but when it ended in one of the cheesiest scenes so far, it almost looked like a small microcosmos, representing the whole ‘verse into a single subplot. (Not to mention Giles’ reaction to being felt up by a bunch of kids: “You think I’m evil if I take a group of girls on a camping trip and don’t touch them?”
)
That was the episode’s subplots. The main episode plot was even better. It felt good to see Willow deal with the past in a reltively non-violent way, just as much as it ripped my heart to shreds, seeing her trapped in the form of Warren. It’s also good that it looks as if she’ll finally find some respite from the Tara-business.
Put shortly, I find that I have less and less understandig for the people who claim that Buffy should have ended with season 5. So far, season 7 may be the best one, although it’s hard to tell, seeing as it’s almost half a year since I started season 1…
Oh well. Back to the Buffyverse; I think I’ll have time for one more episode before “Hallo i uken”.
