No matter how nice it was to see David Boreanaz again: Buffy, how could you?
I know he’s the love of her life, and that he just saved her life. But even so, it wasn’t very clever.
Anyway, the episodes have started to blend together, making me unsure of where one begins and the other ends. One thing I am able to place in this episode, though, is the continuation of the trend of monsters being easier to kill when there’s more of them. In the beginning, the Bringers were really tough, and Buffy could barely handle a few of them at the same time. Then, Amanda beats up four of them almost on her own, while at the same time fending off an angry vampire. Now, the little girls slaughter Bringers almost without casualties. Meanwhile, the Übervamps are back. And where one of them could beat Buffy from here to the moon, they become relatively easy to take on now that there are more of them. Willow’s sweetheart dodged three of them and beat one to the floor all on her own, while Buffy slayed them singlehandedly in three seconds a short while later. Sure, she had her new toy with her, but still…
A good thing is that Anya hasn’t been killed yet. After her little speech to Buffy two episodes ago, I was almost hoping that some agent of her former employer would materialize out of thin air and rip her throat out, but now… When she and Andrew went to the hospital, I was convinced an Übervamp or assassin would show up, but no. A relief, though. She’s not that bad, after all.
Giles’ continued survival has also been somewhat of a surprise, although his recent bastardish behaviour has yet to make me wish him dead. But, as Cordelia so delightfully put it a few seasons ago, “how many times have you been knocked out, anyway? One of these days, you’re gonna wake up in a coma.”
And Mal — excuse me, Caleb was gutted, too. Nice to get the proxy out of the way. Now it’s time for the grand finale.
And I feel wistful. Six months, seven seasons and seven in-series years of these characters are about to end. 11, 12 and 12 (effectively), if I add “Angel”. No more first times…

I hope you’ll enjoy the finale.
As for the number-power-problem, the Bringers-thing I try to discount as Buffy and the slayerettes just getting better at what they do, and maybe as the First having used up its elite Bringers by now. The übervamps, well, first of all, the one who managed to get out first was probably the meanest and strongest. And second of all, you could explain this by saying they somehow get their strenght from the First, like Caleb obviously does, thus when there was only one übervamp, there was only one subject to the First’s power, but now it’s divided into many,
That’s my personal explanation, anyway.

Hey, great rationalizations! Mind if I borrow them?
And yes, I did enjoy the finale. Very much so, in fact, if one ignores the fact that it almost hurt, physically, that it was over.

It does, doesn’t it? It leaves a void. Of course, I had still well over a season of Angel left when I finished Buffy, so I didn’t have quite the sudden dry-spell you do, I still got tv2’s one-episode-per-week-dosage afterwards.
But when Not Fade Away ended, yes, I cried.

“One of these days, you’re gonna wake up in a coma.”
Best. Quote. Ever.
well, at least in the top ten anyway.

Yeah, I agree, but at the same time I fear that my “Top Ten Buffy Quotes” list would contain some 80 or 90 quotes, if I had the patience to gather them all, even if it was only the ones that weren’t too dependent upon the context in which they were uttered. (And once again I am totally flabbergasted by the absence of my ability to put my thoughts into words in English. :P)

It would probably be redundant at this point to mention that aye, I agree as well, but I think I’ll do so anyway.
Aye, I agree as well.
As for your English, I know the feeling. At least you got to use the word “flabbergasted”. Good word. Giles’y word.

The really cool thing about “flabbergasted”, though, is that a flabbergast is a German bat.
