“Always leave them wanting more, kiddo. That’s the rule” — AS4×6 Spin The Bottle

At first I thought this episode was just fun, fun, fun. And granted, most of the time it was, what with all the sitar, and the mushroom tripping, the adolescence jokes, Angel’s antics, and everything else. (Liam: The English had it coming, I’m rooting for the slave.)
But at the same time, this is the first [...]

“You know what they say about payback? Well, I’m the bitch!” — AS4×5 Super Symmetry

Now this was a killer episode. Which, when I think of it, might actually falsify David Fury’s statement about “The House Always Wins” being the only stand-alone of the season, because I would certainly categorise this as a stand-alone.
At least plot wise, that is, as the (main) story line does very little to progress [...]

A Very Long Nonsense

Now, don’t misunderstand me: When I say “A Very Long Nonsense” I’m not talking about the film I saw yesterday, “A Very Long Engagement“, but rather the war during and after which the film’s story takes place. Which is obviously WWI.
But this isn’t a war movie. Sure, the war’s presence adds something of an “All [...]

Pence & Senility

I read Jane Austen’s “Sense and Sensibility” last week, and so I thought I’d watch the 1995 film adaption of it again, as I hadnt’ seen it in three years or so, and was curious about how it was in relation to the book.
It was good. Not exceptional, or anything, but good. Amongst other things, [...]

Okay, I realise now that I might have been kinda exaggerating about the relative greatness of VM2×22 — BS7×22 Chosen

Sigh. In my last post, I claimed that VM2×22 could rival BS5×22 and stuff like that in level of awesomity. Obviously, I forgot just how much I love BS7×22.
Because this episode is filled with all that good stuff I adore. There’s that scene in the high school hallway when the Scoobies talk about what they [...]

VM2×22

That has got to be the most traumatic season finale I’ve ever seen. This one is a dangerous rival to BS5 and AS5, and I doubt I’ll get much sleep in the three hours remaining before I have class.
Damn, I gotta start downloading season 3 soon.

Couple o’ updates more

1. I just wrote a new page, entitled “Buffysodes”, on which I’ve put links to all my quasi reviews of Buffysodes. In time, it might be renamed to just “’sodes” or something, and have links to more reviews, but for now this is all there is. It’s primarily written as a service to my sister, [...]

Catch Me If You Ain’t Busy Peeling Labels Off Of Bottles

“Catch Me If You Can” was aired on Norwegian television tonight, and seeing as I’ve wanted to see it for a while, I sat down to watch it. Also, the trailer looked good.
And it was. The story was splendidly built and told, the chemistry between Abagnale and Hanratty was awesome, and the filming and the [...]

Confusoworld

I’ve been a little lax on the movie-reviewing the last week; I watched “Underworld” nine or ten days ago, and I still haven’t gotten around to reviewing it. And now I’m making amends, or whatever.
“Underworld” was surprisingly good. I pressed play expecting sheep for the slaughter, but got a live leopard into my slaughterhouse instead. [...]

Couple o’ updates

Two things: (Actually, three things, after my update.)
First of all, I added a new blog to my blogroll. It’s yet another Natse Corma blog, written by someone who calls herself “Eple” (aka. Apple; I wonder if Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter have grown up and learned Norwegian ). There’s not many posts this [...]

Amnesia’s so not cool — AS4×4 Slouching Towards Bethlehem

Besides having a really cool title, this episode is kinda interesting. Cordelia’s back, and she can’t remember a damned thing. Angel, Fred and Gunn tries to spare her from the truth about what they really do for a while, probably hoping to ease her return. She doesn’t like that very much, and having found things [...]

Wee!

Logging on to my favourite fantasy forum today, I found two great news in one post. The news were so great that I at first had some problems accepting them as true, so I set out so dig up som news about these supposed future events — the making of two television shows, based on [...]

No future — AS4×3 The House Always Wins

This is the first episode of “Angel” I’ve seen since December 5, at least in my own little project. (Fitting, then, that I watched it twice; once in regular mode, and once in commentary mode.) Also, accroding to David Fury in the commentary, it’s the only stand-alone of the season, “because, you know, the rest [...]

“I fucked them, I killed them, and I threw them in the river.”

Famous last words.
In other words, “Rome” is back. And with a vengeance, too. Literally, and possibly plurally.
In season 1, I often felt that the Lucius Vorenus parts were inferior to the going-ons of the upper classes, but not this time. Sure, Lucius dealing with the loss of his wife was dull sometimes, but not too [...]

Terje loves Veronica

Yesterday afternoon, I suddenly felt the urge to watch some kind of TV show while eating dinner. I considered both “Carnivale”, “BSG” and “Angel”, but discarded them all. The two former (and especially BSG) are have too much background noise for me to pay proper attention to the dialogue while eating, and the latter… well, [...]

I originally planned on calling this post “Meh-ragon”, but alas…

Me and my sister was at the movies tonight, watching “Eragon“, and my Gods, I don’t think I’ve seen such a horrible movie in a very long time.
The story was rushed; it didn’t have any coherence at all, and it failed to establish both ethos and logos. It seemed as if its creators were [...]

The Sounds of January

I continue what I started in December: Making a home made CD to listen to while on the bus, in the car, or when I’m out walking. I also follow up a kind of dogma I thought up while burning December’s CD: That I won’t use the same band twice. I doubt that that dogma [...]

Batman Confuses

Sigh. Yet another movie review. What has becomse of this thing?
Oh well, at least it’s usually good movies. This time, it’s “Batman Begins” — a truly exquisite comic book adaption, perhaps the best I’ve seen.
As indicated by the title, “Batman Begins” tells the tale of how Bruce Wayne became Batman, beyond the shallow “his parents [...]

Taxi Psychotic

I didn’t get to watch as many movies as I hoped and planned to this week, but at least I found the time to get the weekly quota filled. Here’s the second film I watchd this week, “Taxi Driver“.
I’d heard a lot of good stuff about this one, and the names of the writer, director [...]

O treasure, where art I?

New year, new movies. I managed a (to me) respectable 107 movies in 2006, in other words a little more than my goal of 104.
So, this year was opened with an adaption of Homer’s “The Odyssey”, namely the Coen brothers’ “O Brother, Where Art Thou?“.
This lends both strengths and weaknesses to the movie. One of [...]
