“What’s this, then?” I asked myself when I saw a movie starring Daniel Craig. I should surely have heard of such a film before, but I hadn’t and it looked kinda cool. So I decided to watch it, and I’m very glad that I did.

Daniel Craig plays a young, professional drug dealer that’s decided to quit when he’s on the top. But circumstances and his boss wants it otherwise, and Craig finds himself involved in a deal where he has to offload a million stolen ecstasy pills - and he has to do it while dodging bullets from a hit-man sent by the Serbian mafia. As the story progresses, the plot thickens and things get more complicated. “Layer Cake” is a fast-paced thriller that has you guessing from the get-go. It’s got drugs, sex (and not a lot of rock&roll) guns, good actors and plot that stands head and shoulders above it’s competition in the genre. Daniel Craig is brilliant in the role of the nameless drug dealer and the movie is well-worth seeing just because of him. He’s fast becoming one of my favourite actors and I’m really looking forward to the next James Bond flick. If you’re a fan as well, why don’t you pick up “Layer Cake”?

Final Verdict: 8/10
