Harold Crick is your run of the mill type of guy. He’s a bachelor, he works at the IRS and life as he knows it is made purely out of numbers. To sum up: he’s so very normal and boring that it’s hard to believe. There’s just not anything special about him - except the fact that his life is narrated by an unknown British woman.

One day Harold wakes up and he starts to hear a voice in his head, which narrates everything he does. This is somewhat strange, but it gets even stranger when the narrator suddenly discloses that his death is imminent. But Harold doesn’t want to die, and thus starts his journey to discover the truth about this voice, which seems to be right about everything it says…

But it turns out that Harold Crick isn’t a loony. He’s just written that way.

That’s essentially what “Stranger than Fiction” is about. I watched it yesterday evening with my sister, and while she didn’t become a great fan I thought it war rather brilliant. Not the kind of movie which makes you go “Oooh” or “Aaah”, but simple fun from the director of the forthcoming James Bond movie. This is a heartwarming tale about a man who discovers what life should be like and is willing to risk his life to actually live.

All in all I enjoyed quite a bit. 7/10.
