Oh, there’s gore enough to go around, but never for it’s own sake. That’s what I mean with good violence: it feels violent and uncomfortable. You don’t sit there cheering for the characters to kill the Nazis, you just hope they somehow make it out of there alive.

I think you’re misunderstanding Ole’s comment. He’s not saying that the violence is grotesque or sickening; he’s saying that it’s brilliant because it does what it’s supposed to do in a realistic manner without ever going for the overly gory shot (though there’s obviously some gore flying around. Can’t help that when you’re being bombed to bits).

That was my impression of it, anyway. I wouldn’t even think of NOT watching BoB because of the degree of violence.

If Ole says it’s got the best violence he’s ever seen anywhere ever, then I think maybe I should steer clear of this. To keep my bowels on the inside of my corpus, as it were.
